‘Wizard’ Sells Out Two Theaters

Bristol Yacht Club

FROM AUG 10 SUBSCRIBER EMAIL – Two screenings in two key sailing centers produced a couple of big crowds for MELGES: The Wizard of Zenda. A sell out audience saw the documentary at the Bristol Yacht Club in Bristol, RI. 120 tickets were sold for the event to promote sailing. A big thank you to Kathy Rotsky and her team as well as Gary Jobson, who was a special presenter

Not to be outdone, Little Traverse Sailors in Harbor Springs, Michigan packed the house by selling out all 200 available tickets. The youth and adult sailing program collaborated with a community conscious partner – the Lyric Theater – to create a truly successful event. Buddy’s daughter Laura was on hand to introduce the film. Thanks to Merritt Keffer and the Lyric’s Chris Flynn for their work.
And last week, the Tucson Sailing Club shared the documentary with its members and the public. A screening at The Loft Cinema drew a crowd of about 50 Buddy Fans. We’re grateful to Brian Dolan and his team for this event. Brian tells us the film received heartfelt applause when it was over.

The Loft Cinema, Tucson

It’s been a busy few weeks adding screening events and a few key locations are worth mentioning. Buddy’s home in Lake Geneva will get it’s first public screening at the Belfry Theater October 8th. Our Florida premiere will happen October 24th at Sarasota Film Society. And the first screening in Texas will be at Houston Yacht Club November 11th. Finally, we’re excited about a screening in Honolulu to benefit the Hawaii Sailing Foundation. Watch our social media feeds and this email for more details in the coming weeks and months.

As always, we are grateful to the sailing community for supporting this film. Keep the stories and screening requests coming.
